About Little Peaks

Little Peaks is a nonprofit preschool and early childhood center located in Keene, NY. With an annual budget of approximately $1 million, the organization is committed to providing high-quality early childhood education and care in a nurturing, inclusive, and supportive environment.

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Grants Manager to help strengthen and expand our grant fundraising efforts and support the organization's long-term financial sustainability.

Position Summary

The Grants Manager will be responsible for managing the organization's grant fundraising activities, including identifying funding opportunities, developing grant proposals, coordinating application materials, maintaining grant calendars and records, and preparing reports for funders.

This is a part-time, primarily remote position that requires approximately 15 hours per week. Because of the importance of relationships with local donors and funders, the Grants Manager should be available to occasionally meet with donors, funders, or community partners in person in the Adirondack region.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent writer and project manager who can work independently, manage multiple deadlines, build strong relationships, and translate the organization's programs and impact into compelling grant proposals and reports.

Key Responsibilities

Grant Research, Writing, and Reporting

  • Research, identify, and pursue prospective foundation, corporate, government, and other grant funding opportunities that align with the organization's mission, programs, and funding needs.

  • Maintain and manage a pipeline, from beginning to end, of current and prospective grant opportunities.

  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with foundations, corporate funders, and other grant-making organizations.

  • Develop compelling letters of inquiry, grant proposals, applications, budgets, and supporting materials consistent to the organization's messaging and goals.

  • Prepare interim and final grant reports.

  • Document program outcomes, financial information, testimonials, and other information needed for reporting.

  • Occasionally participate in meetings with funders, donors, or community partners, including in-person meetings in the Adirondack region.

Board & Organizational Support

  • Provide monthly updates to the Board of Directors regarding grant activity, upcoming opportunities, applications in progress, awards, and reporting requirements as necessary.

  • Work collaboratively with the Board and the Center Director to identify funding needs and develop strategies to address them.

  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality and professionalism when handling organizational, financial, donor, and funder information.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Demonstrated experience writing successful grant proposals for nonprofit organizations.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with exceptional attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities independently.

  • Ability to research and evaluate funding opportunities and determine alignment with organizational priorities.

  • Experience developing grant reports and managing grant requirements.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or similar tools.

  • Ability to work effectively in a remote environment with limited day-to-day supervision.

Preferred:

  • Experience working with early childhood education, education, children and families, or other community-based nonprofits.

  • Familiarity with foundations and philanthropic organizations in the Adirondack/North Country region.

  • Experience working with both private foundations and government grant programs.

  • Experience cultivating relationships with donors and funders.
